So She Thinks She’s Pregnant…

She is weighing her options. You also have a choice to make. What are your responsibilities? How should you help? You have a lot to think about.

An unintended pregnancy involves challenging decisions that affect you and those close to you for the rest of your life. You are not only involved, but you will be affected by the decisions that are before you.

Help with parenting? Get married? Consider an adoption plan? Abortion? All of these options have trials and consequences. Your Aspire Women’s Center peer counselor will give you the resources and information you need to help both of you through this decision.

Pregnancy Centers are not just for women. Our services include you. Learn your options. Making an appointment at Aspire Women’s Center gives you the chance to work through the questions you have with helpful information from a peer counselor. Find support as you consider how to handle this situation. Having someone to talk to will help you be strong for yourself and your significant other.

You Should:

  • LISTEN: The situation involves more than just you. This is something that you and she need to work through together.
  • STAY CALM: She needs your support now more than ever.
  • TALK ABOUT IT: Not only with each other, but prepare to talk with parents and others close to the situation. Hiding the news from people who can genuinely help you only increases the stress.
  • GATHER ALL THE FACTS: Get all the information and seek wise counsel so you can make the best decision for both of you.
  • EXPRESS YOURSELF HONESTLY: It’s normal to have feelings of anger, frustration and fear. But make sure she knows she is not alone.

You Shouldn’t:

  • BAIL: The more you run from this, the harder it becomes to think and act clearly.
  • PRESSURE HER: Applying pressure will only push her away, possibly into a regretful situation. You will do well to work together as a team.
  • GET ANGRY: You have a very active role in this situation. Listen to input as well as give your thoughts in a calm manner.
